The University of Coimbra, one of the oldest universities in the world

The University of Coimbra , founded in 1290, is the first university in Portugal and one of the oldest universities in the world. It was when King Dinis signed the "Scientiae Thesaurus Mirabilis" that the University was created. It began to function in Lisbon, but in 1308 it was transferred to Coimbra, alternating between the two cities until 1537, when it was definitively established in the city on the Mondego River, in Coimbra. Until the beginning of the 20th century it was also the only Portuguese-speaking university in the world. It was built on the site of a former palace, and its 16th century campus has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2013. The reopening of Portugal for Tourists Most probably Portugal could become one of the first countries to agree to an “air-bridge” with UK, as it will be allowing citizens to travel between both countries to avoid quarantine measures. In the upcoming days the first wave of Air Bridge will be announced and the flights to those destinations will resume from July 4 th . An announcement is expected from Boris John by June 29 th that deals have been put in place for so-called air bridges with a small number of countries with low levels of coronavirus with them, which clearly means that tourists will be able to go on a holiday without having to spend 14 days of quarantine when they return, as per the new travel updates for Portugal.
